LPT student internship program offers selected master’s students the opportunity to meet and collaborate with leading theoretical physicists at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LPT, UMR 5152 CNRS/UT) in Toulouse, as well as potentially with other CNRS/UT laboratories in Toulouse.
Selected students will participate in research under the supervision of young, active, as well as experienced and established supervisors at the forefront of theoretical physics, on a variety of interesting topics in statistical physics, condensed matter physics, quantum information, quantum matter, quantum dynamics, and biophysics. They will also have the opportunity to participate in seminars and research clubs at LPT or in the FeRMI federation in Toulouse.
Duration and Format
The internship dates are flexible (determined by the student and their supervisor), and last from two to four months, in the spring, summer, or fall of the year following the application deadline. The topic and specific supervisor will be determined for selected students upon acceptance of their application.
The internship will be organized remotely by default.
In exceptional cases for 4-5 top students, a stipend of about €600 per month will be awarded (only in case of an in-person participation). Travel costs must be covered by the student’s own funds or another fellowship, with a possibility of a partial financial support from the supervisor’s team. This latter issue should be discussed directly with the potential supervisor before accepting the application. Upon successful completion of the internship, all students will receive a certificate of participation and recommendations for their future careers.
Requirements
Applicants must be enrolled as Master’s students in one of the internationally recognized universities (in exceptional cases, senior Bachelor’s students will also be considered). A research plan or prior contact with potential supervisors is not required.
